BI Architect/Solutions Lead
A Business Intelligence Architect is a professional with extensive experience in requirements, analysis, design, development and management of analytical business solutions. The BI Architect will engage with vendors to oversee the architecture and design of multiple BI Solutions in accordance with the company’s BI-DW Strategy, IT Policies and industry best practices. Establish ‘Corp BI’ standards and processes to govern BI Solutions design and development methodologies, data and platform security as well as ad-hoc self- serviced reporting requirements. The candidate will also provide day-to-day support of Corporate BI applications on a multi-domain shared SharePoint 2010 BI Platform. In this role, the candidate will provide technical and analytical support of new custom BI applications and BI migration projects through its development life cycle. Projects typically involve working with many business divisions and functional groups. Provide operational steady state support for current and future deployed BI solutions.

REQUIREMENTS:         
·         Overall 10+years experience in implementing BI Solutions
·         5+ years of experience in design and development of BI applications using Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS and SSAS for data warehousing, ETL, data integration and OLAP reporting
·         5+ years of experience in designing, implementing and managing large OLTP and OLAP databases in SQL Server 2005 and 2008
·         3+ years of experience in design and development of Business Intelligence solutions using SharePoint 2007 and 2010 framework, SSRS, PPS, ProClarity, Power Pivot and Excel Reports
·         5+ years of experience developing and administering large Data Warehouse solutions using industry standard methodologies
·         Expert level proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008 
·         Informatica experience is a plus
·         Proficiency with .NET programming is a plus
·         Expert Analysis and Technical Problem solving skills (Troubleshooting/debugging)
·         Strong willingness and desire to provide excellent levels of customer service
·         Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
·         Implement system testing methodologies
·         Excellent written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities:
 
Understand Customer BI Reporting Requirements and Business Value
·         Develop a strong working relationship with IT Leads of various functional groups to gain deep understanding of subject area/business function as well as their long term growth strategy and roadmap as it relates to BI Reporting
·         Perform business-impact-driven analysis and recommend BI solutions that meet the business near term and long term goals and objectives with alignment to the Corp BI DW Strategy
·         Recommend appropriate tools and technology required to meet immediate and long-term business and individual self service reporting needs
 
Drive the Design, Review and Oversight of BI Solutions Architecture
·         Using technical, analytical, business and industry knowledge, drive the architecture, design and implementation of multiple large BI reporting and analysis solutions 
·         Work with various external vendors during design and development phases of BI Projects to provide technical oversight to ensure architecture alignment with UTC BI/DW strategy and overall industry wide best practices 
·         Perform technical review of the final product to ensure the solution meets performance requirements, is aligned with BI COE design standards and meets all business reporting requirements
·         Analyze performance requirements of BI projects and ensure the overall solution architecture is capable of handling multi terabyte reporting and analytics
·         Engage with functional business analysts and subject matter experts as needed to define and analyze ad-hoc BI report requirements on a project by project basis
 
Establish BI Standards/Policies
·         Establish architecture and code review process for new solutions implemented into the BI Platform
·         Establish BI Solution design and implementation best practices and standard work within the organization
·         Ensure high performance and sustainability of BI solutions by identifying, implementing, and enforcing best practices and industry standards
 
Monitor, Control and Govern BI Environment
·         Communicate effectively with BI end users, solutions and recommendations to address system problem reports or service requests
·         Establish process for monitoring and ensuring that standards and processes are being followed for new BI Projects and steady state operations such as Production support and change management
·         Track and measure metrics that define success factors for continuous process improvement
