    Job Description:

    BLDI, Inc., an environmental engineering company with its main office in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is seeking a Business Development person to help us continue to grow our company.

    BLDI specializes in conducting environmental due diligence, environmental risk management and site closures in our three state service region (Michigan, Ohio and Indiana). The position is an exciting opportunity to leverage your technical sales skills experience with a company growing in the environmental market place. The successful candidate will represent the company in a professional manner, conduct/manage sales process, respond to customers and work with project staff to meet client expectations.     The ideal candidate should:

    •Have the ability to “learn” in both a directed and undirected manner. The knowledge of regulations and real estate transactions is an advantage.
    •Have the ability to “listen” to the customer to discern any objections or concerns.
    •Have excellent telephone conversation and recordkeeping skills.
    •Have at least 20 years of experience in service sales, or several years of capital equipment sales and at least 2-3 years engineering or equivalent services. Degree requirements flexible.
    •Dress well to represent the company in a positive manner for our clients which include attorneys, bankers, developers and real estate brokers.
    •Be a self-starter and self-manager.
    •Be able to make “cold” calls.
    •Be able to deal with multiple personality types in the sales process.
    •Be able to discern real market or client information versus “noise”.
    •Must be willing to do multi-state travel (Michigan, Ohio, Indiana).
    •Be able to take rejection from clients; however, rejection should not stop this person from trying to work with the client again.
    •Should be persistent, but not pushy or arrogant.
    •Must have computer skills in MS Word and Excel. Knowledge of MS PowerPoint and ACT! a plus.
    Must possess proficiency in English, a valid Driver’s License, and be a US citizen or permanent resident. EOE. No e-mails or telephone calls please.
