Senior Networking Architect- Data Center Co-Location Build Out
Working as part of the Data Center Co-Location Build Out, and in collaboration with the IS Security System Zoning project, this Architect will be expected to oversee design, construction, and deployment of data center Networking secure segmentation solution(s). Candidate must have proven Data Networking architect, engineering and design experience in an enterprise environment.
Candidate must have proven Data Networking architecture and design experience with a special focus on Data Centers and Network Security including firewalls, intrusion detection, intrusion protection, monitoring, and malware control.
•Plans secure networking design by evaluating network and security technologies; developing requirements for local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), virtual private networks (VPNs), routers, firewalls, and related security and network devices; adhering to Amgen, industry and leading standards
•Oversee execution of solution delivery of our managed service provider who will be responsible for construction, as well as day to day administration, support and troubleshooting of the network
•Oversee and mentor contributions of junior team members
•Gain thorough understanding of Amgen’s business strategy, network and computing environment, recommend and design networking solutions in accordance to Networking and Data Center strategy
•Interact with project managers, network engineers and architects, vendors and other suppliers to create the necessary design and execution documents in support of an enterprise-class, integrated network security solution
•At least 10 years experience in designing, managing, or supporting data center networks or enterprise perimeter networks
•Competence with MS Office, MS Visio, MS SharePoint
•Experience with intrusion detection and protection systems, network security, segmentation and management
•Experience designing operating networks for large enterprises (not service providers).
•Strong knowledge and advanced certifications from leading Networking and Security Vendors (Cisco, F5, Juniper)
Strong knowledge of the Storage Area Network technologies and Hardware and the leading Vendors (EMC, IBM, HP, Cisco, McData, Brocade, Data Domain, NetApp)
•Strong knowledge and experience with Data Replication (EMC), Data protection (EMC & Symantec products), Data provisioning (EMC Products), and Data virtualization (VMWARE)
•Ability to obtain understanding of the functional area business models/processes and priorities to leverage that knowledge in solutions to meet business needs
•Ability to function in a matrix team environment
•Knowledge of technical diagrams, process and network flowcharting and project management using MS Office applications, including MS Project and MS Visio and similar applications
•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business or the equivalent combination of education and experience
•Experience working in the Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology/Biomedical devices/Healthcare Industries
•Strong team player who is able to collaborate with colleagues on complex tasks and can use influence to achieve the required results
Candidate will have proven analytical thinking and problem solving capability. Strong written and oral communication skills are required. Must have ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment. Must be capable of working and partnering with in highly matrix organization capable of partnering across the IS supply chain, able to present technical solutions clearly and succinctly to senior level executives.
