Director of Procurement (4531)

Location: Chicago, IL or Philadelphia, PA

Reports to: VP--Supply Chain and Operational Effectiveness

Direct Reports: 1; expected to increase to 3 to 6 as capability develops

Position Summary
The Director, Indirect Procurement has overall responsibility for driving sourcing and supply chain strategies for Services, Indirect Materials, and Capital Equipment. Specific categories include forklifts, tractor trailers, tank farms, engineering services, etc. This person will develop, coordinate, and implement procurement programs that leverage buying power for global spend categories. Focus will be on driving annual TCO and productivity improvements that support business units and functions.

Responsibilities

Implement and manage a best-in-class strategic procurement capability
Provide in-depth data analysis to support strategy development and fact-based decisions
Work closely with key stakeholders and responsible parties in business units to develop effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans for identified categories
Drive total visibility of all purchases on a global basis through cross-functional involvement, providing sourcing expertise/support to achieve maximum savings and value from suppliers
Effectively utilize eProcurement tools and techniques that result in delivered value
Drive standardization and simplification initiatives to support cost savings
Implement supplier management programs with key suppliers including performance goals, metrics, and improvement initiatives

Requirements

Experience/Skills

Minimum 7 years of experience in purchasing or strategic sourcing with experience in indirect material, capital equipment, and services sourcing preferred
Experience implementing sourcing methodologies for category management
SAP or other major ERP or sourcing service (e.g., Ariba) Indirect Spend Application experience required
Proven experience in developing a best-in-class indirect spend management program
Strong negotiation skills to achieve best TCO
Demonstrated leadership talent with ability to motivate all levels of stakeholders by virtue of keen business acumen, excellent judgment, professional competence, credibility, flexibility, and personal integrity
Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to inspire trust and confidence
Proven success in managing, organizing, and/or completing multiple tasks and priorities
History of managing and being managed to targeted results
Proficiency with Word, Excel, Powerpoint required; MS Access and statistical software experience preferred

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Engineering or related field
MBA or related degree preferred
Lean/Six Sigma certification required
CPM or other recognized purchasing credentials required
