Job Description:
Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Product will work closely with executives and team members to co-create, communicate, and execute Grammarly’s product vision and strategy. This is a high profile role both internally and externally, which requires demonstrated creativity, charisma, and product development success.
Responsibilities include working closely with customers, engineering, marketing, and sales to enhance our Saas writing enhancement tools and drive new product launches. The Director of Product will conceptualize and present business cases for product concepts and market opportunities to gain buy-in from both management and the development team. He/she will work closely with engineering to lead the new product development effort by establishing a deep understanding of customer needs, and clearly communicating product strategy, functionality, and requirements.
The Director of Product will research and identify customer needs in current and new markets, and determine key functionality and integration for our product portfolio. He/she will work with marketing to develop product messaging and positioning, participate in trade shows, conduct press and analyst meetings, and build on Grammarly's reputation as a thought leader in the industry. Director of Product will also define partner strategies with complementary technology suppliers.
Overall responsibilities include the following:
* Continually improve Grammarly’s writing enhancement tools, as measured by NPS, engagement, and LTV.
* Co-create and drive product strategy, including refining and building our value proposition and business model. Work with management and others to identify new opportunities and markets.
* Analyze customer needs, market data, and competition to prioritize product initiatives in a comprehensive roadmap that will increase customer breadth, engagement, and retention.
* Drive product launches by managing lifecycle of features from conception to launch.
* Lead cross-functional teams of UI experts, designers, and developers to design and build products. Ignite team members’ excitement around product vision, providing motivation for exceptional execution.
* Manage documentation including requirements definitions and roadmap.
* Manage relationship with strategic partners to ensure alignment on product roadmap.
Requirements:
* Passionate about language generally and written English specifically.
* Highly creative and strategic, with the ability to generate and test conceptual hypothesis with detailed market analysis and data.
* 6+ years of product management experience, ideally developing consumer-centric products and applications within an agile environment.
* Proven success taking a web-scale product from concept/business case to user adoption.
* Demonstrated ability to drive product planning, product development, launch, and ongoing improvement.
* Experience in a high growth start-up, or experience in different product organizations at varying stages of development.
* Strong project management and organizational skills with ability to handle multiple parallel projects and deliver exceptional results, despite challenges. Experience in managing at least a small product team (3+ people) preferred but not required.
* Experience working in distributed teams.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication (especially important for Grammarly given distributed team).
* Experience with relevant consumer and product research theory and methods.
* Proactive leader who takes initiative and demonstrates a high level of accountability.
* BS degree in a technology-related field (or established aptitude and fluency in technology fields); MS or MBA preferred.
