The Engineer position is the second level of Engineer in the Engineering Department. This level is for the employee with some relevant work experience who has mastered basic engineering skills. The focus of this position is for the employee to lead moderate size projects or phases of programs. The work is of minimal to moderate complexity and risk, and medium duration. This position requires some independence and creativity, and decisions are reviewed closely by the supervisor.

The Engineer must:

Collaborate as a productive member of project teams, and lead projects of moderate size and scope
Demonstrate Engineering Professionalism in all activities and interactions, increase personal awareness of customer needs and implement solutions, and provide efficient service to internal and external customers
Schedule activities to complete assigned tasks and projects, and communicate and document requisite information, while following established Dart policies and procedures
Apply technical knowledge to identify process and equipment problems, recommend and implement solutions, collect and document data, and verify results

Specific Duties:

* Design, develop, implement, and deploy electrical control systems for manufacturing automation
* Perform software development in a variety of control programming languages as appropriate
* Design, develop, and troubleshoot communications systems, including serial, industrial, and Ethernet networks
* Provide electrical troubleshooting support for Dart’s equipment and processes
* Direct and coordinate the work of Associate Engineers, Designers, Technicians, and other project team members
* Create project requests, definitions, and plans
* Document work in regularly scheduled progress reports and final reports
* Perform design and development of medium complexity for speed and motion control systems
* Create robust technical documentation detailing the electrical designs and software systems that define a machine or Electrical Engineering system
* Stay abreast of new technologies through technical journals, internet, trade shows, seminars, and working with vendors
