JOB DESCRIPTION
We’re looking for an experienced electro-mechanical technician who thrives in a fast-paced, technology driven environment. The main responsibilities involve hands-on assembly and testing to support new product development activities. This individual will provide a variety of electro-mechanical-oriented lab support functions under the supervision of engineering personnel. The job requires demonstrated expertise in working successfully in R&D and production environments. The ideal candidate has worked in start-ups and has proven track record of delivering on their commitments in a fast-paced, resource constrained environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Hands-on assembly and test of pre-production and production level products
• Work from limited documentation, written or verbal instructions, assembly drawings, schematics, rough sketches, diagrams, layouts and plans.
• Operate metalworking machines to fabricate housings, jigs, fittings, and fixtures.
• Test performance of electromechanical assemblies, using test instrumentation.
• Inspect parts for defects and workmanship issues
• Verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
• Analyze and record test results, and prepare written testing documentation.
• Perform tasks, as required, to support the overall corporate needs and objectives
• Flexibility to work varied shifts/schedules as required (day/night/week-end)
• Train others in required assembly and test operations
• Make recommendations and implement changes to continually improve efficiency in areas of responsibility.
SKILLS
• Expert in operation of mechanical lathes, drill presses, and other mechanical equipment used in the design and manufacturer of electro-mechanical products and systems.
• Strong understanding of the materials, processes, and procedures use to maintain design tolerances in production environments.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed to maintain product integrity.
• Knowledge and practical understanding of mechanical engineering principles and best–practices.
• Works well in a team, has strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• English language reading, writing and comprehension, oral communication and math skills to work in Quality and Process Improvement environment where sharing information is essential
• Proficiency in a PC Windows environment, using MS Outlook Calendar tools, Word, and Excel.
• Able to prioritize, good leadership, perseverant and a high-energy self-starter
EXPERIENCE
• 5-10 years of direct applicable experience in R&D or Manufacturing environments.
EDUCATION
• Requires an Associate Degree or equivalent in industrial technology or equivalent
