    OVERALL ACCOUNTABILITY

    The HME Engineer is accountable for the planning, co-ordination and direction of all HME guidelines and standards while providing operational technical specialist support to the various business units and mine sites across the Continental Africa Region (CAR).

    The individual will provide essential leadership and input into the monitoring of technical compliance against standards and guidelines as well as providing essential infrastructure leadership and guidance in order to meet production standards and targets, safely and within budget.

    You will need to mentor and coach the HME discipline to improve knowledge and standards through best practice implementation of relevant technical reviews and guidelines.

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

    Reporting to the Engineering Manager: HME


    THE CANDIDATE

    We are seeking an individual with a qualification in Mechanical Engineering combined with at least five years experience in an HME environment, two of which have been in management. Knowledge of guideline and standard interpretation implementation and budgeting is essential.

    Along with the demonstrated experience and knowledge, the HME Engineer will become a respected leader in this broad diverse role, with the ability to deal effectively with all management and to give timely and relative technical guidance and support as and when required.


    OVERALL KEY COMPETENCIES


    •The ability to identify critical technical operational issues while coordinating these elements together into the coherent monitoring of advisory and service delivery frameworks.
    •A strong results orientation and proactive approach.
    •Knowledgeable in aligning clear guidelines and standards initiatives within overall operations strategies.
    •Interpret daily, weekly and monthly progress and standards control policies.
    •Monitor and ensure risk and safety guidelines and standards are in place.
    •Good grounding in operational safety, health and environmental systems and standards.
    •Solid awareness in all aspects of scheduling, financial data analysis, project and contract management, legislation application and relevant mining computer software systems.



    OTHER ACCOUNTABILITIES


    •Develop initiatives and work behaviour models and processes consistent with company values to achieve increased group participation and attainment of goals.
    •To effectively maintain positive liaison with business units and sites to ensure a productive atmosphere and effective interface.
    •Review and coordinate the activities of the work team to ensure they are informed and on track.
    •Coordinate with support departments to ensure all needs are met.
    •Coordinate HME spares for CAR.
    •Develop and lead a competent team in a positive environment where coaching and leadership is essential.
    •Monitor guideline compliance and review of safety risk, asset integrity and audit protocol implementation of HME and Mobile equipment.
    •Establishment of parameters for advising/reporting on incident and corrective measures implementation.
    •Develop any new guidelines against existing policy as well as the advising on and implementing any new technology initiatives.
    •Accountable for providing technical input and benchmarking within HME asset integrity validation process.
    •Co-ordinate continuous development of best practice initiatives within the HME discipline within CAR to achieve optimum quality implementation.
    •Be able to write specification documents as and when required.
