SUMMARY: The Partial Hospitalization Aide is a “trained other” who assists the Partial Hospitalization Worker. Works directly with clients who are diagnosed as severely mentally ill. The assistant helps to provide rehabilitation and environmental support activities that are considered essential to the client served in achieving the highest level of functioning.

 Demonstrates ability to work cooperatively with and take directions from a variety of PHP team members in completing a variety of duties needed for individuals served
 Demonstrate ability to safely operate agency vehicle, including safely transporting clients to assigned destinations
 Demonstrates the ability to organize work effectively and prioritize responses to the changing needs of persons served

 Ability to work effectively with diversity both with clients co-workers including interdisciplinary teams
 Establishes a record of regular attendance at team meetings, supervisory appointments and training sessions

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 Builds and maintains relationships with participants and participates with consumers in partial hospitalization activities.
 Engages in individual intervention to help consumer develop interpersonal and community skills, and help the consumer to adapt to home, work, social situations, neighborhood and education environments.
 Works closely with the staff to help the consumer minimize negative effects of psychiatric symptoms or chemical substance use, which interferes with the individual’s daily living, financial management, personal development, work family life and/or relationships.
 May assist with transportation of program participants.
 Assists Partial Hospitalization Workers in other tasks as assigned.

The Partial Hospitalization Aide must demonstrate the skills and ability to communicate and work with persons receiving services, and with the consumer’s “community”. Must be able to foster an environment that supports recovery for clients served. Must be sensitive to the cultural needs of the individual and/or family being served to enhance cultural awareness and self-esteem.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or GED required.
