Nuclear Consultant

Position Description

Position Summary:This position provides engineering and nuclear expertise to support the contract with NSTec (the M&O) to provide support for the Readiness in Technical Basis and Facilities (RTBF) Program for the Nevada National Security Site (NNSA) under the authority of the Department of Energy (DOE).

Major Responsibilities:Provide technical input in nuclear engineering to the RTBF Program Manager. Perform process improvement and project initiatives of the RTBF Program and Stockpile Stewardship senior management. Provide engineering and conduct of operations support to facilities in the RTBF Program and nuclear operations. Provide programmatic assistance and subject matter expertise in technical service areas. Develop position papers on continuous improvement projects and risk management and risk mitigation approaches; develop inputs for risk assessments and risk management practices. Attend Program meetings and provide technical insight to RTBF Program activities.

Position Requirements
•Solid understanding of advanced concepts in nuclear engineering, nuclear criticality and safety analysis [R]
•Solid working knowledge of configuration management [R]
•Solid working knowledge of nuclear radiation and contamination environment [R]
•Exceptional interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills [R]
•Strong critical thinking, decision making and problem solving/conflict resolution skills [R]
•Effective time management and organizational skills [R]
•Solid project management skills [R]
•Proficiency in office management systems, including spreadsheet software, word processing and email/internet applications [R]
•Working knowledge of federal contract requirements/regulations [D]
Education – Master’s degree in nuclear engineering or a related field plus five or more years in Nuclear Engineering and Nuclear Utility; or equivalent combination of specialized education and experience.
Licenses & Certifications – NQA1 Auditor
Security – Q clearance required.
