Pipefitter

Cut, braze, weld and form pipe, sheet metal and plumbing fittings for pipe installation. Bend and lay out all sizes and types of tubing, solder tubing, hard pipe and run hose. Use protective measures to minimize safety risks to self and others while performing job duties. Operate machines to cut and thread pipe and pipe fittings, including valves, traps and thermostats. Bend pipe to specified shape bolts on pipe-bending fixtures, bolts or welds brackets to support pipe systems. Connect pipes to fixtures such as heat exchangers, laundry and galley equipment, pumps, tanks and other ship equipment. Repair, pack and adjust valves. Test installed systems for leaks and to ensure that system meets specifications.  Install and/or remove pipes. Inspect and tag out piping systems. Hydrostatically test piping system(s) and equipment. Perform other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

This position requires the Pipefitter 1 to lay out, fabricate, install and maintain piping and piping systems, fixtures and equipment.

Required to travel to customer site.  Must be able to work both independently and within a team environment.

*Must demonstrate thorough understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic principles

*Must be able to read & understand blueprint, scematics, job specifications

*Must be able to read and understand mechanical drawings

*Prior pipefitter experience and/or formal training
