Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Packaging Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related 8-10 years or relevant packaging experience required Experience working within the consumer packaged goods, paints or foods industries (or related) Should have an existing network of vendors/resources that can support packaging efforts Strong quantitative, analytical and process/packaging skills Able to apply comprehensive engineering principles and practices within multiple specialties as they relate to a manufacturing environment Ability to focus on key business objectives to set priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously; ability to design and implement multiple complex projects. Ability to apply operations management principles; interpret and apply department policies and procedure and applicable laws, rules, and regulations Strong teamwork and project management skills which include project plan development and management as well as maintaining project budgets Lean Six Sigma certification preferred Able to travel as needed
Job Duties:
Ensure the development of package component specifications that are fit for purpose and protect the company's Brand and interest Utilize external resources/vendors to support packaging operations Partners with, develops and builds relationships with external resources/vendors that will support our operation and innovation (testing, packaging design work, etc.) Lead functional teams when appropriate; provide direction/counsel to R&D, Marketing, Sales, Operations and other functions Ensure the delivery of each program is on time, on budget, with the quality expected Bring creative solutions to commercialization challenges Provides input and recommendations during project development phases, including resolution of commercialization hurdles and managing regular project communications Plans, researches, and directs product container design projects Utilize strong project management skills to develop and manage project timelines, address technical and resourcing challenges Interprets and applies company policies and procedures and ensures compliance with these areas Provides technical leadership and consultation to manufacturing team in the area of packaging Studies specifications to resolve design problems of product containers related to material characteristics, tolerances, service requirements, manufacturing procedures, and costs Conduct the technical development of packaging components, including the creation and approval of any packaging specifications
