QA/QC Engineer Level 5

Position Summary:
Responsible for hardware and firmware design assurance validation activities of new product development and enhancement projects.

Drive improvement and standardization of best practices in the organization to achieve best-in-class quality for new products, as part of a cross-functional team working with both external and internal customers.

Support CPD-Common Product Development Process.

Identification of improvement opportunities.

Relentless pursuit of Root Cause determination.

Execution Management of Quality Deliverables for Projects.

Apply Quality Functional Tools / Methods in the development of new product designs including, 8-D Methodology, 5-Why, Validation, MAAR, Pareto, Statistical Significance / Correlation, Design of Experiments, Critical to Quality characteristics, Design FMEA and Process FMEA.

Participate with design engineering in Design for Six Sigma process with new designs providing leadership in quality and reliability activities.

Utilize statistical tools to evaluate current product quality performance and primary failure modes and determine physics of failure.

Evaluates, from a quality and reliability standpoint, the materials, properties and techniques used in production.

Work with design engineering to establish reliability models for key components, subassemblies and systems.

Advises design engineering on selection, application and test of electronic components and systems.

Recommend design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product quality and reliability.

Develop accelerated reliability testing to validate the failure modes and use this testing to evaluate design changes, improvements and new designs.

Use reliability models to work with Supplier Quality in evaluation of key components using critical parameters and accelerated testing in supplier evaluation and selection.

Determines quality and reliability requirements of components, subassemblies and systems to achieve company, customer and any governmental agency reliability objectives.

Develops new acceleration techniques and analytical tools to assure the early identification of potential problems with new products, packaging, processes, and product reliability.

Ensures compliance with internal and external specifications and standards such as ISO regulations.


Minimum Qualifications:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

Minimum 2+ years of design assurance, product quality or engineering experience with an emphasis on improving quality within a high-tech product development organization.

Experience with manufacturing quality and design for manufacture.

Excellent communication, team building and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities or responsibilities.


Desired Qualifications:
Demonstrated successful leadership experience on improving product quality.

Demonstrated ability to influence key stakeholders through a cross- functional team project.

Quality Engineering experience within an electronics environment is highly desired.

Reliability Engineering experience within an electronics environment is highly desired.

Experience with Industrial Automation applications and solutions are highly desirable.

ASQ certification desired – CQE, CRE.
