• Senior Infrastructure Hands-on Red-Hat Enterprise Linux Engineer will provide global Project Management, Systems Management, Infrastructure Management, Performance tuning and Senior Engineering skills for this world class Global Red Hat based Linux Engineering team.
  • Candidate will assist with management of 3500+ Linux server infrastructures (RHEL4/5 & RHEL6). Configure systems according to standard systems build practices. Interface with project sponsoring groups to Liaison and project manage while gathering requirements for implementation and post implementation project support.
    • Candidates will monitor, evaluate and solve hardware and or software related performance issues with internal and external clients.
      • Candidates utilize standard tools such as Satellite Server, CF Engine, for provisioning and configuration management. Or other provisioning tools. Configure and tune LVM volumes, experience with GFS.Proven shell scripting (ksh & bash) abilities.
        • Candidates will be heavily involved in the engineering, performance and testing of the Linux operating systems, and associated software applications. Candidates must be strong in Operating Systems and Kernel based engineering, being able to diagnose performance issues with application group’s security groups and development groups.
          • Provide levels of optimization for OS and possible application code base when needed. Projects will be focused on successful implementations of new technologies to further strategic architecture initiatives within my client’s enterprise environment.
            • Candidate will work closely with internal application groups to assess application demands and requirements for the Linux platform.
              • The candidate filling this role must be a skilled communicator and experienced with the testing, architecture, design and utilization of Linux Enterprise class operating systems and servers.

               

              RED HAT ENGINEERING LINUX ENGINEERING SKILLS REQUIRED:

              • 5-10 yrs of progressively responsible Linux experience within the realm of Linux systems engineering.
                • Deep understanding of Linux and hardware design and architecture.
                  • Must have strong scripting skills or other and know low level programming. Perl, Shell Familiarity with compilers and common application programming methods and application development lifecycle.
                    • Understanding of robust testing and certification of comprehensive platforms (including hardware, and operating system.)
                      • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including making presentations to groups of highly technical internal clients.
                        • Experience with challenges and best practices in working with enterprise scale compute platform infrastructure
                          • Ability to perform gap analysis and requirements documentation of existing tools and process
                            • Use and Understanding of NUMA on AMD and QPI on Intel
                              • Use of SAR, iostat, vmstat in diagnosing general system problems and isolation of performance
                              • Setup and administered Linux test systems for Linux support teams globally
                                • Must have advanced cluster design, clustered operating system load development, and integration experience
                                  • Responsible for troubleshooting installation, integration and maintenance
                                    • Mapping product roadmaps and lifecycle in context of business requirements and vendor direction.
                                      • Red Hat Linux Certified Engineer is a BIG plus
                                        • Candidates who have worked in an environment of 1000 or more servers would be better suited for this job.
