SQL Database Architect
ARE YOU A GREAT SQL Database ARCHITECT? DO YOU ENJOY BUILDING, DESIGNING AND DEVELOPMENT? Our client, located in Birmingham is seeking a SQL Database Architect to join their team of professionals. Selected candidate will be responsible for the database development and production support for internet-based applications and services. Responsibilities:
Design, develop, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability.
3+ years experience in a DBA role utilizing Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or later in a production environment
1+ years experience with SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 or later in a production environment
Desired Technology Experience:
3+ years experience with complex T-SQL query creation (including stored procedures), query tuning, database maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting SQL Server production systems in a tiered .Net environment
1+ year experience with SQL Server Integration Services 2005 or later in a production environment
1+ year experience with .NET programming, either ASP.NET or Windows Forms in a production environment
Experience with running SQL Server in the cloud via Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure for a production system
Preferred Qualifications:
4-year degree in computer science or a related field strongly preferred
Experience with large-scale databases in a multi-server environment preferred
Experience with SQL Server administration and programming for high-traffic web applications preferred
Microsoft SQL Server certification preferred
Relevant Database Administration Skills
Setting up and maintaining SQL Server Database Mirroring
Database backup and disaster recovery
Database maintenance, planning and provisioning
Schema-based security
Setup and monitoring of SQL Agent jobs
Experience with a 24/7 production server environment is a must
Relevant Database Architecture/Programming Skills
Experience with both Normalized and Denormalized data structures, including detailed knowledge of the benefits/tradeoffs associated with each
Creation of stored procedures and optimization of those procedures for performance
Excellent knowledge of T-SQL language is a must
Creation and maintenance of table structures and stored procedures that comply with existing standards
Creation and management of SQL triggers
Relevant Reporting Skills
Creation and deployment of SQL Server Reporting Services reports that target SQL Server stored procedures as their data sources
Creation of stored procedures that aggregate data for use in custom reports. Knowledge of the “GROUP BY” statement is a must
