Our client is an early-stage well-funded renewable energy company in the greater Boston area that is working to commercialize a low-cost technology to enable more efficient grid-scale power storage.
Position Summary
The SE will report to the CTO and will have primary responsibility for 1) designing, coordinating, and building battery module systems; 2) collecting and analyzing system performance data; and 3) interacting with other teams to ensure smooth system-wide integration.
Responsibilities
Design and construct modules to house, support, and insulate batteries, complete with thermal, atmosphere, structure, and electrical monitoring, logging, and controls
Work with cell design and testing teams to ensure a compatible and easy to assemble system
Work with modeling staff to validate thermal, mechanical, and electrical characteristics
Requirements
BS (or higher) degree in a relevant field of the physical sciences or engineering, such as applied physics, materials science, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or electrical engineering
3+ years of hands-on experience in areas such as electro-mechanical systems, high temperature processes, or designing standardized products.
Demonstrable successes with previous technical projects
Ability to engage and solve complex engineering problems
Recognized by former colleagues as a ‘go-to’ person to solve challenging issues
Experience with sensors, data acquisition, structural systems, and CAD
Ability to lead a small team, and work within a team-oriented envrionment to accomplish common goals.
Strong organizational and communication skills
Capable of working both independently and as part of a fast moving team
Pluses
Knowledge of high temperature metallurgical, electrochemical, or chemical systems and metal joining processes.
Understanding of cost implications of product design, value engineering
