Job Description:
The Mechanical Technician provides task and project support for Impact Thermoforming and other engineering operations groups. This includes engineering activities related to: the blending and forming of various plastic materials to produce prototype or production cups or lids, mold cups in support of projects for other groups, and travel to other plants to support installation of new equipment and tooling.
Specific Duties:
* Provide assembly, disassembly, and maintenance of thermoforming machinery
* Install test equipment required for evaluation of production or experimental process machines
* Maintain accurate records of machinery functions, including but not limited to, run times, part replacement, process results, troubleshooting results, etc
* Assist in thermoforming samples for review by other departments to evaluate weight, density, quality, etc
* Troubleshoot machinery problems, recommend and implement solutions
* Support production facilities and Machinery Manufacturing by responding to requests for assistance, including but not limited to, part numbers, machinery operation, and drawings
* Assist other teams within the Impact Thermoforming group by providing machine installation, set-up, blending and expanding bead
* Travel to production facilities up to 60% of the time domestically and internationally
Requirements and Qualifications:
* Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, prefer an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
* Requires a minimum of three years of experience with machine installation or assembly, troubleshooting and recommending solutions
* Requires a minimum of three years of experience with metal fabrication, drafting skills and blueprint reading
* Requires a minimum of three years of experience using hand and basic power, prefer four years
* Prefer two years of experience using tools such as lathe, mills, and welding, as they relate to machine maintenance and assembly
* Requires a mimimum of one year of experience with spreadsheet and word processing software, prefer two years
* Prefer some CAD experience
* Requires own set of hand tools
* Requires strong verbal and written communication skills
* Requires a team player attitude, maintaining consistency in working toward company objectives
* Requires a valid driver’s license and favorable motor vehicle report
* Requires the ability to obtain and maintain a passport
