Shift: primarly Monday through Friday but need some flexibility to meet needs of patients and staff
 
Job Overview
 
The Skin & Wound Nurse will function as the clinical resource and role model responsible for quality of nursing practice & standards of care related to the delivery of patient care for patient skin, wound care, and ostomy management. Assists and educates the nursing staff providing the day to day care: risk assessments, potential for healing, and wound care product selection. Assists the manager in leading, planning, controlling and evaluating nursing practices and operations as it relates to skin, wound and ostomy care. Develops and maintains quality improvement activities and recommends/implements program changes as appropriate. Devises effective control mechanisms to ensure that the physical environment fosters safe patient care. Ensures a review of all case files relating to bad patient outcomes within an assigned unit. Develops and oversees the implementation of multi-disciplined Wound, Ostomy, and Continence (WOC) nursing.
 
Qualifications
 
General Work Experience: 3-5 years clinical experience with minimum of 2 years pediatric or WOC experience required. Basic computer skills required. Excellent customer service and communication skills with hospital/clinic staff, children, parents and visitors. Knowledge of medical terminology required. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize tasks in a fast paced setting. Excellent written and verbal communication. Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Required Education/Field of Study: Graduate of an accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. 
Required Education/Field of Study: Graduate of an accredited Wound, Ostomy & Continence Nursing Education Program within 12 months of hire.
Required License/Certification - BLS / CPR
Required License/Certification - Registered Nurse
Required License/Certification: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and/or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) in specific departments.
Required License/Certification: Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Certification (CWOCN) within 18 months of hire.

Others: Occupational Hazards - exposure to unsteady or falling patient: In the course of transferring a patient, he/she may encounter a patient who falls or loses his or her balance, causing him/her to bear the full weight of a patient or fall with him or her.
Weight Lifted/Force Exerted: Up to 100 pounds: Up to 1/3 of time
